Manage nine reporters on local news and business desk for the Daily Camera newspaper, directing daily coverage, managing website and editing copy. Also oversee sister publications Broomfield Enterprise and Colorado Hometown Weekly. Proficient in HTML, plus NGPS, WordPress and Django/Ellington CMSsn; well-versed in SEO; manage paper’s social media presence via Facebook, Twitter, etc. Led news team’s transformation to Web- first publication.
Entertainment Editor (January 2006-April 2007)
Planned and coordinated arts and entertainment coverage, supervising production of two separate, but complementary, print entertainment sections each week. Hired and managed a stable of freelance critics. Created content plan to transform dirt into a weekly product, and launched its successor, Pop.
dirt Editor (April 2005-January 2006)
Managed and directed eight-person team (reporters, designers and a photographer) that produced dirt – the Camera’s youth-oriented publication and Web site – five days a week. Introduced user-generated content into the paper and online, and actively repurposed content from the Camera and elsewhere.
Music Writer (January 2003-April 2005)
Interviewed and profiled national and international touring musicians, wrote general music and entertainment features, reviewed CDs and live concerts, and delivered a weekly music column. Also launched one of the Camera’s first-ever blogs, focused on local music coverage.
Staff Writer (December 1997-May 2000 and October 2001-January 2003)
Covered a variety of reporting beats, including police and courts, the University of Colorado and higher education, and municipal beats that spanned the cities of Boulder, Louisville and Superior. Spent two years as lead reporter on the JonBenet Ramsey investigation.
